Upcoming In-Person Classes

Art Quilt Midwest: University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, MO

June 23-27.

I will be teaching five full days of Stitch Play! Hurry…enrollment closes on June 16.

Stitch Play

Students will play stitching “games” to explore the potential of basic hand stitches. This playful approach includes concepts such as stitch maps, word play, random choices, stitch combos, and stitching the “wrong” way. In the morning sessions, students will stitch “messy” test samplers to explore different concepts and glean information, often resulting in the creation of new stitches or stitch variations. In the afternoon sessions, Julie will provide a selection of interesting Stitch Challenges based on the daily theme. Students will have the opportunity to create original works using the stitch variations they’ve developed through play. Julie will also be including a session on attaching small natural items to fabric, adding seed beads to stitches, and some needle lace basics.
